Elders Welfare Association a group of retired officers from Central and State Governments, and Public Sector Undertakings interested in philanthropic activities and social service, without expecting any return, started functioning in september 2006. The association is a society registered under the provisions of Travancore Cochin Literary Scintific and Charitable Socity Act XII of 1955. We organize seminars and awarness programs for senior citizens, medical camps, yoga classes, skyline meditation,suicide prevention classes, family counselling and programs suiting to the needs of senior citizens. We make frequent visits to orphanages, yethimkhanas, widowhomes, oldage homes,and other charitable institutions to share happiness with them and to provide financial assistance.

The principle objectives of the association is to provide support and service to people in the sunset years of their life.

A good number of elderly persons have sufficient income for their living but no relatives to take care of them in their fag-end of life. Another good number of old people have no income, no relatives to support and are living in a miserable state being old and sick. These elder persons are facing emptynest feelings.

This reveals that ageing is a major social challenge. In this scenario there is need to provide shelter,financial,emotional and health needs of the elderly, and create a scoial milieu.We intent to help these elderly persons in their fag-end of life.

“HAPPY HOME” is a long cherished dream of the association which has been visualized as a 'HOME AWAY FROM HOME'. Our proposal is to construct a three storied building to provide accommodation to sixty elderly persons. We have purchased land in survey no:91/1-4-3 of Neyyattinkara village,Kavalakulam ward of Neyyattinkara municipality in Trivandrum district, Kerala state for the construction of Happy Home. We have spent more than twenty five lakh rupees from our own fund for the purchase of land and for the foundation work.

Considering the financial strain we have decided to construct the three storied building in a phased manner. As per the schedule of work the construction of ground floor is the first phase.

The ground floor of happy Home consisits of two blocks namely "A" (Indhira Gandhi Block) "B" (Rajiv Gandhi Block). Sri A.K Antony, Honourable Minister for Defence, Govt: of India has sanctioned an amount of rupees twenty five lakhs from his MPLAD fund for the construction of "A" block (Indhira Gandhi Block). The work of "A" block has been completed by the Kerala Public Works Department.

Our dream is to complete the ground floor of HAPPY HOME (A&B blocks) immediately. The estimated cost of "B" block (Rajiv Gandhi Block)is rupees twenty five lakhs. We have carried out the construction of "B" block within the resources from our members. The building is ready for occupation.

We are proud to place on record that all the expenses of the association including the purchase and improvement of land, foundation work of three storied building of HAPPY HOME and construction of "B"-Block etc. were met by our members. Perhaps ELDERS WELFARE ASSOCIATION is unique in the whole of India in this aspect. We require more fund for the development of HAPPY HOME. There is no scope to raise further resources from our members as they have already contributed about fifty lakh to the association. Therefor our general council has decided to raise fund from like minded,charity minded personalties and institutions for the development of our dream project-HAPPY HOME. So far we have recieved contributions from a few of them.
